The BM2 chair was designed in 1958 by Børge Mogensen for Dk3, who was inspired by the simple, unadorned lines of the Shaker style. The famous architect created some of the most representative furniture of the golden age of Danish design in the 1950s and 1960s. Wood was his favorite material and he was very fascinated by the natural characteristics of the tree. It is a comfortable and sturdy chair made of solid wood with a linear design. The legs are rounded and the seat is in hand-woven Vienna straw, treated with eco-friendly soap and wax to make it resistant. The steam-bent ergonomic backrest is modeled to follow the natural curvature of the spine and the characteristic wedge-shaped armrests are made according to the Danish artisan tradition. The chair is produced by one of the oldest carpenters in Denmark, dating back to 1837. Each part of the chair is handmade, through a craftsmanship that gives each piece unique details. Available in two different finishes, the chair can be combined with the refined wooden tables of the DK3 collection.
