With Mateo, Vincent Van Duysen has created an architecturally designed table consisting of a cylindrical central base with a conical shape made from a curved plywood mould: the two moulded halves, once placed side by side, draw an open central joint, giving the base a strong personality. Stable and solid, thanks to its rounded shape slightly flared downwards, the base is available in two versions, one circular and one oval, so that the table can be adapted to the spaces in which it is placed. An internal frame, invisible to the eye, reinforces the meeting point between the base and the top for greater stability. Mateo can be fitted with a central revolving tray, Lazy Susan, a typical element of oriental culture, which allows all diners to be served in a practical manner, creating intimate convivial situations.
