OW149 | Armchair | Oak - Cognac Leather

The refined colonial OW149 chair was designed by Ole Wanscher in 1959. Wanscher wanted to create furniture that paid homage to conservative classic trends, but also stood the test of time. He achieved this balance with the design of the Colonial Chair, which remains his most famous design to date. As a minimalist, Wanscher preferred the subtle and the refined, yet despite its slender dimensions, the Colonial Chair is very stable. Its strength lies in the carefully designed reinforcement. The sophisticated and slightly curved armrests rise up to a certain point and then slide downwards, a distinctive Wanscher feature. The rear legs gently curve outwards for greater stability and a more refined result. Fifteen years later, Wanscher designed the matching colonial sofa and colonial coffee table, creating the colonial series.
