A dynamic-looking pendant lamp designed in 1958 by Danish designer Poul Henningsen, and since then produced by the prestigious company Louis Poulsen. Originally designed for the Langelinie Pavilion restaurant in Copenhagen, a modernist restaurant where even today the lamp surprises guests with its incomparable elegance. The lamp, considered an icon of international design, has an essential archetypal shape that is instantly recognizable and that recalls, as the name implies, the shape of an artichoke. Made up of 72 trapezoidal “leaves” attached by hand to twelve structural arches, whose metal surface amplifies and warms the light and at the same time hides the light source from any angle. Artichoke is Henningsen's great triumph in the challenge to counter the electric glow. It offers completely glare-free lighting in any space, ensuring comfortable, high-quality light and creating a beautiful atmosphere around the suspension. Made largely by hand in Louis Poulsen's workshop in Denmark, the lamp is suspended by means of chromed aluminum cables with a coordinated canopy.
