Hans J. Wegner designed Peter's chair as a gift for a friend's son in 1944 and has since become a much-loved classic for the children's room. Skilled cabinetmaker, Wegner conceived and built a simple but ingenious chair that would work both as a functional piece of furniture and as a toy. Designed as a life-size three-dimensional puzzle in untreated beech, the chair is easily assembled without the use of tools, to the great enthusiasm of children and adults.
