The vision for Ferdinand was to create a signature design for Brdr. Krüger that reflects contemporary sensibilities while honouring the legacy of 20th-century design. Woodturning is a key element of the structural design, a technique that combines classic craftsmanship with modern manufacturing methods. The result is a bold and distinctive design with the backrest and the frame effortlessly fusing together. With two centuries of design tradition coming together in one composition, the lounge chair is named after one Ferdinand, one of the founding Krüger brothers, five generations back. Ferdinand has its own distinctive character. The interaction between material, form and functionality endows Ferdinand with an essential simplicity and sophisticated luxury that has deep roots in a Scandinavian mindset, but maintains an international appeal.
